\nMatt Sabbadini. Venturing away from the club ready sounds of 2021\u2019s
\nPattern of Spring (Pure Space), Scissor Kick delivers careful
\nintrospection, experimentation, and rich conceptual development. The
\nbeatless interludes and expansive sound worlds that stuck out their
\nheads on earlier releases are embraced in full here. It\u2019s
\nclaustrophobic, but space is found in the right areas; tension and
\nrelease to the nth degree, never becoming a trope. Percussion remains,
\nbut slowed to a crawl.
\nThe release calls on memories of Ambarchi\u2019s Oystered (as well as
\nGrapes from the Estate) and the clicks and hums of Pan Sonic, but it\u2019s
\nthe moments beyond its influences that allow Scissor Kick to shine.<\/p>\n
The areas where intimacy is pushed through field recordings, scattered
\npercussion (in part courtesy of R. Rebeiro), and subtle reminders of
\nSabbadini\u2019s club expertise, are the moments where this record stands
\nits own solid ground.
